What I Provide

Laundry by Dawn is dedicated to providing high quality services to the Dakota Dunes community. I make it easy to skip laundry day with my free pickup and delivery service right to your front door. I have a brand-new laundry room with new front load LG washer and dryer. I offer a Wash, Dry, and Fold service and a Wash and Hang Up Service. The cost of my services is by-the-pound. I believe this is the most fair and comprehensive way to charge my customers. I know there may be some questions about laundry weight. Please keep reading and I will help to explain!

Because most laundry weighs more before washing, I will weigh the dry clothes after. Therefore, you are charged the fairest price. Also, everything is included - no hidden additional fees!

To get an idea of how much laundry weighs, a normal 13-gallon tall kitchen trash bag will hold approximately 15 pounds of laundry (+/-). My cost is $2.00 (plus 4.2% SD tax) per pound of laundry. The trash or laundry bag must be able to close. Since there is no per-bag charge, please don't try to stuff everything in one bag. Several smaller bags are easier for me to carry!

I do not service weighted blankets, large (king) comforters (unless they are lightweight), large rugs or drapes. I will also not service any unsafe or unsanitary laundry or anything with excessive pet hair. While booking your appointment you will be asked if your laundry:

- is safe and does not have bugs or any biohazardous materials.

- is sanitary and does not include feces, urine, blood or vomit - besides traces you find in regular household laundry.

- does not have excessive pet hair.

If I feel your laundry is unsafe, it will be returned "as is". Your account may also be closed.

Laundry Pickup

I want all of my customers to experience a high level of professionalism when working with me. My services, especially this one, exist so you have more time in your lives and it's extremely stress free!

- Laundry will be picked up by your front door, between 6:30 and 7:00 am - by Dawn! There is no need to be home for your scheduled pickup. Simply leave your clothes by your door or if you have a special place you would like me to collect them, you can leave those specifics on your order notes.

- On your first order, I ask that you have your dirty laundry in a disposable bag for pickup, (ex. a 13 gallon trash bag) or an equivalent type of laundry bag or basket. A 13 gallon garbage bag holds approximately 15 pounds of laundry or 1 to 2 loads.

- You can separate the clothes you want hung up to dry by marking the bag with "Hang Dry". You will need to provide your own hangers.

- I will label the bags with your name and record how many bags are picked up. I will send you a quick text letting you know I have picked them up.

- There is a minimum of 1 bag (10-15 pounds ) and no more than 5 bags per scheduled appointment.

Wash

I strive to make this experience hassle-free and convenient!

- Laundry will be sorted by lights and darks. I will also check pockets and will pre-treat any noticeable stains.

- All loads are washed on cold with your preferred detergent. If you want something laundered in warm or hot water you can request that option.

- When booking your appointment you will have 3 options to choose for detergent:

1. Premium scented

2. Hypoallergenic (unscented/sensitive skin)

3. Provide your own. If you choose to provide your own, please include detergent with your pickup and I will return any unused back to you.

- Fabric softener is not recommended because it can damage fabric and shorten the life of clothes. I will have distilled white vinegar on hand in place of softener. If you would like fabric softener or vinegar, simply choose this option when booking your appointment. I will provide either one for no extra fee.

Dry

Your laundry will be promptly removed from the washer and into the dryer on a medium heat. There are many published articles about the use of dryer sheets and how they may be harmful to your health, your clothes and my dryer. For safety, I will use dryer balls unless you indicate that dryer sheets are your preference. If not indicated, I will use dryer balls.

Folding

All laundry will removed in a timely manner from the dryer. It will be folded on a clean, sanitized table. Laundry will be folded into crisp, square shapes. Socks will be paired. If you happen to be missing a match to a sock, I will place the lone sock in a plastic sandwich bag. If you have special folding preferences that you prefer, you will have the opportunity to specify those when booking your appointment. I will do my best to perform those special requests. Folded laundry will be placed in clear plastic bags, tied, and labeled. Your clean clothes will then be weighed and I will prepare the invoice for billing. Every bag will be packaged as drawer-ready for easy put away. Shirts with shirts. Pants with pants, etc.

Hang up option

You can count on me to take care of this need. I will strive to prevent shrinking or wrinkling of your favorite or delicate items!

- Your items that were marked "Hang Dry" on your pickup bag will be air dried on hangers. There is no additional fee for this service.

- Sweaters will be dried flat if that is what the label recommends.

- Please include the correct amount of hangers for all clothes you want hung up to dry.

- Your clothing will be hung up to dry in my clean, smoke free home. I pride myself on keeping my home clean and tidy.

- The items returned on hangers are weighed after the entire process (washed, air dried and packed in plastic). These items are weighted together with the hangers to ensure accurate billing.

Laundry Delivery

Once your laundry order is completely finished, I will send you an invoice to your email. Payments can be made by clicking the link at the bottom of your invoice. There is an option to pay by credit card or pay manually using my cash app, Venmo. I prefer Venmo if possible! You can expect the return delivery of your items to your front door (or your requested location) the next morning, 24 hours after pickup! Fresh, clean, laundry, neatly folded and packaged, all ready for you to put away! Again, there is no need to be home for your delivery.
